More Silverware for the U13s................................
Another great day for the mighty Under 13s. After a slow start our improving
stamina, fitness and preparation saw us finish the group with two draws and
a win and qualify for the Consolation Quarter Final against Whiteknights.
A goal less draw saw us hold our nerve and go through on penalties "Three
German like" spot kicks and a great save from our very own "Oliver Kahn" Tom and
a comfortable progression to the Semi- Final with Sandhurst Town beckoned.
Two fine goals from "Speedy Sam" and some great teamwork saw us comfortably
into our second Final of the Summer.
Our hosts for the day were our opponents Woodley Wanderers, we take the lead
deservedly and our opponents come searching for an equaliser which
eventually came. Back we go again creating more chances and looking like the more
likely to score but it finishes 1-1 and it's penalties to decide. Klaus (Phillip)
and Wolfgang (Harrison) score but we lose narrowly 3-2 and finish the
tournament Runners-up.
Finally, my thanks to the usual 100% parental support, they awarded "Player
of the Tournament" quite rightly to Jake and "Key Contribution" Paul and I
awarded to Sam.
Well done to you all especially Adam who if he hadn't cut his toenails in
the morning would of scored his first goal for the team!
Keep up the talking, positive encouragement works, Tim
