I took the U13s to St Crispins School for the "graveyard shift" on Sunday,
first match 9-00am. Foolishly, as I peered over the top of my beer glass on
Saturday night and realised half my squad had played in the Hurst Horse Show
BBQ kickabout for at least 2 hours on the School field and subsequently went to
bed late, this was our biggest challenge so far!
Sure enough due to my Saturday night curfew rules in shreds we arrived at
8-15am on Sunday with sore legs and the odd "tired snarl".
Three defeats saw us going into the final group game playing for pride
against Ashridge Park A, with the team improving game after game we went out of
the tournament with a bang rather than a whimper and looked like
"Arsenal in the
mood" (sorry Paul, Nigel, etc) posts, bars you name it, we hit it and we
hammered them nil-nil!
Still, whilst not our day we left the tournament with many positives and
despite the weather great parental support and a big smile. Special mention to
the "Chuckle Brothers" Sam, won the Parents Player of the Tournament and
Phillip our Key Contribution award, well done and both thoroughly deserved.
