Woodley Saints is the biggest and possibly the best Tournament locally, on
time with A, B and even C tournaments at most levels. Twinned with a very
clever "everyone progresses to the Knock-Out stage" in either the plate or Main
Competition it works well for all.
The mighty Under 13s hit the ground running and beat a shell shocked
Bracknell Colts in our first game of the day. George scores and Dad David wishes he
brought the camera!!
Three more group games and a few cigars from Paul and we qualify 2nd out of
Seven behind Emmer Green.
Into the Quarter Finals against Ashridge Royals we get "mugged" and bow out
in the main competition. Special mention to the parents who turned up in force
as usual and voted Jake "player of the tournament" and well done to Tom who
picked up "key contribution" from Paul and me.
Well done team, couldn't fault your commitment but it wasn't our day today.
Seems strange to say that given that now we've won a tournament our
expectations are rightly higher and leave us disappointed not to progress and pick
up more silverware, still, looking good for the League in September when the
offside rule and proper goals and no squad rotation comes in to play.
Next up, Ashridge Parks tournament at St.Crispins School on Sunday 24th,
can't wait!
Well Done Boys you make my job worthwhile, Tim
