After the highs of last weeks success this event for the Under 13s was a
reality check. We started the group stages playing Acton & Ealing who were the
best team we've played throughout the Summer tournaments so far. Despite
defending valiantly for most of the game and putting in a good team performance
two late goals left our team "shell shocked" our first defeat for eight games.
We never really recovered from this and despite a draw in our second game
with Shiplake A we pushed forward in our third and fourth game looking for
goals and left ourselves exposed at the back and lost to both Finchampstead
Falcons and Woodley Hammers A.
Another valuable experience which suggests we need to deal better with
setbacks and move on to the next challenge with the spirit and determination we
have in our squad most of the time.
Importantly, the parents awarded Player of the tournament to Ashley for his
"shot stopping" whilst Paul and I gave the "Key Contribution Award" to Max who
valiantly almost at times single handedly defended whilst others watched!
Enjoy the break our next training will be 4-45pm Wednesday 6th June at St
Nicholas. Thankyou to all the parents, as is always the case 100% turn out
despite the rain.
