After the close shave last week we needed a better performance against this opposition.
They are a good team that likes to play football so we had to be up for it.
Although the first half was fairly even our defence stood firm and Myles was never troubled.
We were beginning to make inroads down the right flank,
with Alex turning the left back a few times.
The low crosses were troubling the Ascot defenders too and we should have scored from one of them.
AJ was a constant menace up field and George worked his socks off throughout the match.
In the second half we seemed to lift our game and were unfortunate when Kurt's header back eluded Myles,
making him rush back to stop the ball going over the line,
only to see Ascot knock the ball in for a lucky goal.
After this, we continued to play some good football,
Oli had a great match but Ells won Man of the Match for his efforts with numerous stops and balls played forward.
Fozzie continued where Alex had left off against the left back and from a low cross Oli nearly scored with AJ lurking at the back post.
AJ did eventually have the ball in the net but Chris was controversially judged to have hand-balled during the build up.
Pressure told though and AJ equalised by knocking the ball in from close range.
We then got caught by a break from a long shot that deflected off a boot for their winner.
This was a game we should have at least got a draw out of and maybe even should have won.
No complaints about performance or effort but a little unlucky with the result.
