After two defeats we needed to get back to winning ways.
Could we show the character to do so?
At least we did not have to contend with the forecasted rain, only a strong wind on a cold morning.
We began slowly, on a bumpy pitch, with the ball seemingly bouncing around in an overcrowded midfield.
Players of each side got in each others way constantly, with no-one taking control.
The old problem of putting your name on it and taking ownership of the situation was evident again, a little frustrating really.
After a while, it was the home side who took the lead and fortunately we showed enough character to turn it around.
We seem unable to keep the clean sheet this season but if we can keep scoring goals, as we seem to do regularly, it will not be too much of a concern.
A couple of corners were won and the second one, allegedly according to AJ, was meant to go in.
One of those that gets caught in the wind and drops in at the far post.
Good enough for me and the equaliser after we had begun to play some football, away from the crowded midfield.
Shortly after that, we took the lead.
From a loose ball, Chris kept his head from the edge of the box to "place" it inside the post.
It can be easy to blast the ball from there but the cool finish gave us the half time advantage.
During the first half, there were a few minor skirmishes, which were not caused by our lads but well done to Ross for stepping in when needed.
This, thankfully, was the last we saw of such incident.
Although we defended for long periods of the second half, to be honest we defended really well and did not look like conceding again.
Patience was the order here, as time wore on the lads kept working away and breaking upfield then winning corners into the wind.
One corner unusually came off the near post which fooled everyone it seemed except George who swept it low into the net for our third.
This gave us the cushion we craved and proved enough for the 3 points.
Man of the Match went to Myles, who was really on form with a few crucial interventions.
Maybe his Dad should run the line more often...thanks Jeff!
So the right result and as I write, most of our rivals have drawn.
The table makes for good reading again lads...well done on a good performance.
