Under 17s - Match Report 17/10/2009
Manager: Shane Wyatt
Opponents: Whitegrove
Result: Draw 1 - 1

The unbeaten run had to end sometime. At least we remain undefeated although this was close.

It was as though we did not want to take possession of the ball and make it count. Seemingly, we we allowed our opponents time on the ball, so much so that they must have been amazed. Early on, it became clear that our defenders would come out on top. Whitegrove really were reduced to long range efforts for that reason. A lot of passing and movement but thankfully no end product that would have seen us concede more. Man of the Match Kurt had an excellent match, nothing went through him and he frustrated the opposing forwards constantly.

It was quite some time before we troubled the Whitegrove 'keeper, rarely AJ or Joe did manage to find a way through. The ball finally began to become friendly with us in the second half. Joe's goal was a result of route one football but he finished really well, mid way through the half. It gave us a slender lead which as the game continued became precious as we could not find another. Whitegrove got their equaliser and hit the bar late on. Maybe we rode our luck in this one but we must be careful as another team might have used their possession better and beaten us. We need to be more positive if we are to remain top and so must not get complacent.

Room for improvement then, starting next Saturday......
