After the pre-season friendly against Reeves, we made the lads aware they would have to work harder to get a result today.
Our opponents confidence was high too with a draw and a win in their first two matches.
The first half was a scrappy affair, as neither side could play any fluent kind of football.
Once we got into our stride though, we managed to wear Reeves resistance down.
AJ scored a first half hat-trick and although we let a soft goal in, truthfully the game was won.
If there is one thing that gets to me, whether watching the lads or my favourite club, it would be the inability to extend a decent half-time lead after the break and kill off teams.
Today, this would not be the case, much to my satisfaction.
Into the second half and all over the pitch the performance improved.
Man of the Match Alex S got on the scoresheet, Joe and Steven did likewise before AJ added his fourth from the penalty spot to complete the scoring.
In truth, 7 was far less than we could have scored, though maybe I am being too critical? We remain top now with a good goal difference too.
Also note that some teams below us have played a game more which means we are in a good position.
We can see who our closest rivals could be.....possibly our next opponents.
Time will tell so lets keep up the excellent start to the season and see where it takes us.
