Under 17s - Match Report 12/09/2009
Manager: Shane Wyatt
Opponents: Woodley Hammers Black
Result: Won 4 - 1

With a new season in a new division and 5 new signings there was no way of telling how this match would end up. Having just been promoted as well, it would make for an interesting match.

The game began very evenly right across the pitch, both teams working hard and very little to choose between the two. AJ and Joe up front began to link really well and James and Stephen worked hard in midfield with Fozzie, Oli and Ells. At the back, Chris won the Man of the Match award on his debut and fitted in well alongside Ross and David. The match turned when Joe recieved a shove in his back inside the box and the ref awarded a penalty. AJ calmly slotted home, the 'keeper did not even move.

An excellent corner, taken from the correct side, from David was headed home by James at the back post. He nipped in fron nowhere between defenders to score. Joe finished coolly from inside the box to put us 3-0 up at half time. After the break, the tired legs returned, not made any easier by the hard pitch. Maybe trainers could have been used. Joe added a fourth before Hammers pulled one back. Charlie, George and Kurt came on for AJ, James and Stephen before Joe limped off and we finished the game with 10 men due to, hopefully not serious injuries but hard worked legs on a difficult surface. A little rain wouldn't go amiss over the next few days.
