Patience is a virtue they say.
So myself and the Hurst lads in the squad, along with the other long serving players, have been just that.
Now the reward has arrived.
The way we have played our football this season has been great to see, as I have mentioned previously and make no apologies for doing so.
The only side to beat us in the League came but the Romans marched on.
Though early on, we looked a little jaded and unable to get going.
When we conceded a back post header from a free kick we were a little sloppy.
A goal down we had to work hard to get back into the game.
As the first half wore on, Yateley seemed to run out of steam as we worked our way back.
I will never, ever take credit for a substitution working in our favour, though after Charlie came on and scored twice I was tempted!
He ran on to a loose ball and nodded it over the 'keeper for the equaliser and followed that up by putting us ahead from close range.
Very apt that one of the local lads would score in the decisive match.
Before half time, Alex blazed two shots high and Ross headed close but just over from a corner but it remained 2-1.
Not comfortable enough for my liking.
However, into the second half and our opponents definately grew more tired and we camped in their half for most of the time.
We actually had two disallowed for off-side, AJ and Charlie both having goals chalked off.
Eventually the cushion of a third would come and allow myself and the large crowd to relax a little.
AJ worked his way into the six yard box and finished coolly into the far post.
All the subs came on and did enough to make the game safe and ensure we did not concede any silly late goals.
Oli won Man of the Match with a superb performance in midfield
but Ross, Kurt, Alex S, David and Ells all put in great defensive work too.
Our goals against column is the meanest in the Division at least.
All the lads played their part throughout another excellent performance which showed we have character and strength, coming back from behind to win our tenth match in Division 3.
They have given their all and deserve the celebrations at the end and now our attentions turn to the Challenge League.
The lads who did not play will get their chance in the coming weeks and I know they will maintain this great consistency we now have.
Special mention to Charlie, Nathan, Ben H and Fozzie who are the last surviving lads from the original 8 that began the club.
It is a wonderful feeling winning a title so players, parents enjoy this to the max and see you at the EBYFL presentation night in May.
