Events off the pitch can sometimes overshadow football.
The way the lads played this match ensured that the sport won in the end, which is just the way it should be.
Playing down the hill towards the stream is always worrying because of the potential number of match balls that get lost there.
Thankfully, our finishing early on ensured that at least until the second half, I need not worry.
Alex B and Charlie were linking up well and causing our opponents real problems down the left.
Ben W nipped in at the back post unmarked to find himself with time and space to beat the 'keeper with a low shot.
Due to absentees, Oli was given a more attacking role and this paid dividends.
The quick passing and moving so often witnessed only at training, was heavily featured for our second goal.
An opposing spectator nearby complimented us on the goal which again, came down the left and was "whipped" low across the box for Oli to flick in to the corner of the net.
When we last beat Crusaders, AJ scored a great solo goal.
Great to see that our two best goals have come against these opponents, with the ball on the deck and moved quickly.
Oli, you should be proud of that goal.
Bringing on 4 subs can sometimes have a detrimental effect on the team.
However, Alex S, Ben H, Taylor and Greg added extra impetus to a game that was getting tired.
Charlie, Ells and others could have added more goals which in truth would not have been out of place.
The possesion we had was excellent and the only time really Crusaders looked threatening was early in the second half, prior to the subs came on.
It is always hard, when a 'keeper is not often called upon, for him to be on his game when the ball does come nearby.
However, Myles did all that was needed today and deservedly won man of the Match for his excellent work.
David deserves a special mention, reducing a frustrated opposing forward to long range efforts for Myles to collect easily.
The expression "had him in his pocket" springs to mind on this occasion.
Across the pitch, all the squad gave their all and we can ask no more.
