Under 16s - Match Report 08/11/2008
Manager: Shane Wyatt
Opponents: Burghfield B
Result: Won 9 - 0

As I keep going on about not scoring goals maybe now I should keep quiet. Though really this result was needed as some of the other teams we are up against have had similar results already this season. Although we never really played our normal passing game it was good to see us working hard to get the result.

It took a while to get going, maybe the lads don't like the early kick off......Ross came without his boots, Ben H arrived late. Then it took us 20 minutes to score. After a neat one two between AJ and Daniel, Charlie curled a shot around the 'keeper for the opener. Almost immediately, AJ nipped in at the far post and knocked a high ball in. Then Ross headed a rare goal from a corner and Charlie made it four from close range, although it was deflected. Comfortably sitting 4-0 up at half time was a relaxing and enjoyable experience for us and the lads set a target which was very nearly achieved.

Wiggie, Taylor, Ben and Nathan were all contributing well coming on as subs. Man of the Match Ells had a great game at the back and seemed not to put a foot wrong. David had two excellent chances to score but in the end the fifth came from a defender thumping a clearance against Wiggie who did not even realise the ball had rebounded into the net. He added two more for a hat trick, the third member of this squad ever to do so. Nathan finished well from close range for a rare goal and Daniel rounded off a great individual display with a spectacular trademark long range effort, though this one was from a tight angle.

Credit to our opponents who continued to play some neat football and never gave up and perhaps deserved more from the game.
