I guess it could be said that I have dreamt of results like this over the last 4 years.
Us being undefeated, playing a top of the table clash and winning.
Great victory it was though soured by events which will remain unmentioned as this is purely a footballing match report.
We began really well, starting with AJ up front this week and Oisin, Daniel and Oli passing and moving really well in midfield.
Crusaders seemed always to get through our challenges but come up against a brick wall in Kurt, Ross and David, only too deep for my liking.
However, as the game wore on it became less of a concern as the lads got to grip with the quick passing of our opponents.
We began to work their defenders, Ben W, AJ and Charlie made their presence felt.
Soon they were struggling to cope with this strength and were back peddling for a long first half period.
AJ picked up a loose ball close to the touchline on half way and ran up the left flank.
From the distance where I stood it looked to be going nowhere.
However, he had other idea's as he cut inside the right back, beat another defender and from an acute angle produced a shot over the 'keepers head for what is probably the best individual goal any Hurst player has ever scored.
Worthy of winning any game that one.
Towards half time as the opposition began to get a bit restless, AJ scored his second and deciding goal with a cool shot from the edge of the area.
Although it went in off a defender the goal stands as his third for the club.
We changed to a 4-4-2 for the second half, knowing that Crusaders would give it everything they had, adding Ells as a fourth defender.
This obviously shrunk our midfield width a little but both Alex's were more than capable of picking up the ball and running out to the wings if needed.
It seemed to work as although Man of the Match Myles seemed to have a bit more to do, our opposition were reduced to long range efforts and corners.
Myles' handling was superb throughout the game as was his "coaching" from the back.
Apart from the superb shot that beat Myles a minute from time, Crusaders found no way through the Hurst defence.
This was probably our most satisfying result ever and gives us confidence moving forward.
Take this confidence into all our games and the sky's the limit.
Come on lads, make us proud and keep this going.
