Under 16s - Match Report 04/10/2008
Manager: Shane Wyatt
Opponents: Bracknell Cavaliers
Result: Won 3 - 1

For a period during this game the two touch football the lads have a tendency to moan about at training paid dividends big time. After a level first half with nothing to choose between the two teams, some neat football gave us the win we deserved in the end.

Other than the fact we had more shots on goal this was going to be as close a game as our two defeats were against the Cavs last season. Oli took over as captain as Ross rested and played superbly in his usual role. Our new signing, AJ, proved to be a threat throughout with his positive runs and passing. So it was, he would also score the first goal as we took control of the game with excellent movement off the ball. AJ finished with a low unstoppable shot which the 'keeper could not hold. He then turned creater, with a run and low cross for Greg to add the second after his long lay off due to injury. Welcome back Greg!

This was the period when we began to take control of the match and in truth should have scored more as the Cavs looked a little unsettled. They did however pull one back from a free kick which swirled around in the wind and Myles found difficult to hold. The Cavs forced it over the line to reduce the deficit although temporary.

More great pass and move work gave us our third and decisive goal, Alex S finishing coolly from close range. Kurt did not put a foot wrong at the back, earning Man of the Match. We are now one of three teams who have won all three matches which is a brilliant start to the season. Now though we have a couple of tough games against the other two unbeaten sides. Tough it may be, but we can beat these teams.
