Under 16s - Match Report 20/09/2008
Manager: Shane Wyatt
Opponents: Woodlley Town Kestrels Navy
Result: Won 3 - 2

Back on an old stomping ground Cantley Park, where results never used to go our way, it was nice to record a win there. After going 1-0 up very early on, it should have been an easier win though as we made life difficult for ourselves. It became a scrappy affair and all down the left wing. The ball seemed to be out of play more than in as we kept pushing Kestrels back and they kept clearing it.

Eventually, the pressure told and Fozzie nipped in as the 'keeper dropped the ball to roll it into an empty net.The lead did not last long though. Kestrels equalised with what was their first attack. Then with a long range effort they took the lead. This seemed to subdue us somewhat and we could not get the fluent passing back that we had last weekend nor did we close down the opposition enough for long periods.

After the break, the game continued in the same vein. Man of the Match in goal Myles was commanding always and constantly talking and encouraging from the back. Oisin had a few shots throughout the game on his return to the side and Charlie ran tirelessly but to no avail. Subs came on but still could not get things going. We were then given a free kick about 25 yards out. Charlie stood over it but David eventually stepped up with about 5 minutes left to drag us back from defeat. The shot flew beyond the 'keeper and into the top right hand corner.

Then we pushed a little harder and when a defender miss-kicked a clearance it went too close for Kestrels 'keeper to leave and he tried to control it. Unfortunately, he was unable to make sure and Fozzie again stole in to score the winner. His persistence proved to be the difference, all about chasing what appears to be a lost cause and never giving up.
