When a team is down to 10 men, it generally causes them to play that little bit harder and work a lot harder.
So when we discovered our opponents had only 9 we were a little concerned.
This was bourne out through the first half as Arrows defended really well and we could find no way through.
A couple of times we nearly conceded when they ran from deep at our defence but the wayward shooting saved us.
These were warnings for us that Arrows could still compete despite not having enough players.
Try as we might, Charlie, Alex, Fozzy and Ell could not break down the resistance and did not trouble the 'keeper enough.
Half time came and all I could do was encourage the lads to believe they were actually playing against 11.
So the second half began, seemingly we actually went up a gear.
Ross, Ben and David began to stop balls reaching Nick in goal.
Oli, Dan, Taylor and Chris won more in the middle of the park too and we then took hold of the match, peppering shots toward the Arrows goal.
Charlie finally scored with a low shot beneath the 'keeper's dive.
We continued wave after wave of attacks.
Another of Oli's long range efforts rebounded off the bar, Taylor had a couple saved, Dan missed a couple and Man of the Match Fozzy had a few attempts at getting the second.
Eventually, pressure told and Ell had a shot from just inside the box which gave us the comfort of a 2-0 lead.
This was a deserved lead which should have been larger but a third clean sheet on the trot was a great result.
Nick had a holiday during the second half of this match and even had time to collect duty free on the way home!
That is a credit to our defence this season.
Long may that continue.
