At last we showed we can beat teams from the top half of the table.
Having lost narrowly, drawn when winning would have been easier, Hammers fell victim to a never say die attitude from a determined Hurst team.
Going a goal down from a ball over the top was undeserved and from then on we did not look as though we would lose.
Once our defenders began to take a step back, the "tall runners" from Hammers got nowhere near the balls over the top.
Just before half time, after a few shots on goal from Chris, Fozzy and Alex, Charlie broke through and hit a shot that was on it's way to the nearby M4! It was only just over the bar but the 'keeper would have had no chance if it was on target.
We had nothing to fear.
At 1-0 down at the break all we needed to do was keep up the pressure.
After a few near misses and some persistence with Hammers inability to clear their lines, Fozzy tapped in from close range to level things up.
Charlie had another effort go wide, Ben broke down the right and played a lovely one two with Charlie and went one on one against the 'keeper from close range but had the shot saved and numerous chances came and went.
Then from another well worked break, the ball came to Oli who hit a thunderous 25 yard shot which nearly snapped the bar, bounced on the line and went in off a bemused Hammers 'keeper.
Our opponents tried in vain but Kurt, David and Man of the Match Ross held firm.
Nick made some excellent saves too, one particularly with his legs.
At 2-1 up that was an important one.
From a throw, Fozzy pointed where he wanted Ben to throw in the ball and I said to him "look at Fozzy".
Fozzy took an excellent touch or two before dropping a lovely dipping shot beyond the 'keeper.
Putting him back in his old position paid off and gave us the cushion we needed.
Hammers pulled another back near the whistle but we were not to be denied a famous win over a team we have played against regularly over the years.
That is six games unbeaten now and we have moved up a place in the league.
I don't want manager of the month so we don't put the kiss of death on our final away game next week.
An excellent and rewarding victory, well done lads.
