Under 15s - Match Report 15/09/2007
Manager: Shane Wyatt
Opponents: Reeves Rangers Blue
Result: Won 3 - 2

Knowing there were a few comments at the Forest during the week I think the lads were ready for this one, though the match did not go as smoothly as I would have liked.

We began well, moving the ball around quite well, but with no real threat. We have a tendency to give away the ball up front and so our forwards are going to have to work on holding up the ball more for the midfield to come on to. That said, an opportunist soft shot from Daniel bobbled along inside the post for our opening goal. Soon after, our Man of the Match scored again from long range. Daniel's dipping shot was far enough from the 'keeper to drop in to the net for 2-0.

As half time approached, Reeves came back at us. Numerous corners were forced with their tactic of bunching five or six lads on the edge of our penalty area not really coming off. We simply dropped off them and waited so we had a few extra yards on them. Their goal was a soft one, with the ball rolling across the area for a tap-in, right on half time.

The second half continued in the same vein, with us seemingly content to sit back and catch the opposition on the counter attack. A manager's nerve's can be wrecked in games like this. However, on one of our rare attacks that didn't break down, Oisin slid in to beat the 'keeper to the ball to regain the two goal advantage. Despite fresh legs coming on for tired ones, the game did not change it's direction. Still Reeves pushed forward and they scored a second with 20 minutes to go. Jono had the chance to put the game beyond doubt when he raced clear of everyone with only the 'keeper to beat. Unfortunately he went slightly too wide of the advancing 'keeper and we were made to sweat for our first, not last win of the season.
