Under 14s - Match Report 21/04/2007
Manager: Shane Wyatt, 07887 802097
Opponents: Woodley Town Kestrels Blue
Result: Lost 1 - 5

So the final match of a season already an improvement on the previous one. Recently, our goals against has reduced somewhat. That must be our main aim for next season, to reduce even more.

This game was much like the last two. 1-3, 1-5 and this 1-6 were less than we deserved but learning not to get caught on the break will be worked on during training. We matched Woodley from the start, the five man midfield again working well. A great header against the bar from Sam C was the story of our day. So close.....

Sam F returned in defence and Elliot, playing on field for the second consecutive match were solid. Greg in the middle had his best game yet, should have scored in the 2nd half but shaved the post, won Man of the Match. Daniel's headed goal was a delight, the first headed goal by this team. His late season surge of goals levelled him with Alex, who missed a sitter late on.

Sumir was all over the pitch, however needs to be more disciplined and play into team mates quicker, should have scored two but got the weekly trophy. Fresh legs from all the subs, Nathan, "H", George, Max and Charlie ensured we only conceded two in the second half but we should have scored more than the one with all the pressure we had. As with last week, a special mention to Ashley. The commitment he shows to this club is to be admired and this was another brave performance.

Everything looks good for the summer tournaments and most of importantly, for next season. All the lads have to believe more in themselves and we will progress from where we are now. Roll on September.
