Another match that we did not deserve to lose. The feeling on the touchline was
unanimous. At times Hurst played the Hammers off the park.
A couple of changes, Ashley returning for his first full appearance in goal and
Elliot commanding in defence, drew excellent performances from the lads. Ashley
won the weekly trophy for keeping the score respectable and would have been more
so if not for lack of concentration toward the end of the match. Daniel scored a
fine goal, capping his best performance in the stripes of Hurst with a superbly
taken goal from outside the box. He had another angled lob cleared off the line
but deservedly took Man of the Match.
Playing the 3-5-2 formation again worked well, with our midfield outnumbering the
opposition and cutting out more through balls. I hope now the lads are starting to
get used to it because provided they are all disciplined it can work. All of them
are beginning to link well and play some lovely passing football in the middle of
the park. Long may it continue.
